Kazela Lodge offers accommodation suitable for backpackers. It is situated at the
Malawi College of Forestry and Wildlife, at the base of Chiwawo Mountain. in the
Chongoni Forest Reserve. It provides a convenient base for walking or mountain biking
and for visits to the Chongoni Rock Art. The Mpalale Dance Village is opposite the
College to the east of the Pottery Road.
Rooms - four with double bed and ensuite bathroom and toilet (three at MK4000 and
one at MK3500), four with single bed and shared bathrom and toilet (MK2000). Breakfast
can be provided. Payment in Malawi Kwacha only.
- Restaurant with seating for 20. Main dishes such as chicken with nsima, chips or rice cost about MK400. Hot drinks and snacks available.
- Eds Bar, a separate facility located in the accommodation, provides soft drinks, beers and spirits. It is open till late.

Conference facilities that can accommodate up to 20 people are available.
The Lodge can be approached from the M1 at the turning to the east signposted for the College, which is north of the Dedza Township turning. Alternatively, drive 8km up the dirt road past the Dedza Pottery and turn west at the College road. This road is sometimes in poor condition because of use by the heavy WICO sawmill lorries.
